This may be due to a lack of pressure in the cylinders. Please first check to see that both the upper cylinder and joint gaskets are in place (see page 17 of the manual). Check the valves on the bottom of the top cylinder to be sure they are free and clear of coffee grounds and/or sediment. When attaching the upper cylinder to the joint be sure that you turn it until it clicks into the joint. This may have the upper cylinder alignment dot slightly to the left of the joint alignment dot.
When locking in the silver joint to the body be sure that you apply light pressure from the top and pull firmly on the lock bar until it clicks locking it into place. If the operation stops with water remaining in the upper cylinder after following these steps release the lock bar, then return it to the locked position with the cylinder unit installed, then press the (Start/Stop) key to restart. If the operation continues to stop with water remaining in the upper cylinder wait approximately 10 minutes for the machine to cool down, rinse the upper and lower cylinders, and attempt the brewing process again.
There is also an available video for best practices for using the Siphonysta. We hope that this will help solve your issue however please let us know if you need any further assistance.
